1. First cream the butter, then gradually add the sugar and egg.
  2. Dissolve the soda in the sour cream and add to first mixture alternately with pastry flour sifted with salt and baking powder.
  3. Add vanilla add raisins and nut meats.
  4. Drop by spoonfuls on greased tin sheet, and bake in a moderate oven.
  5. Double the amount of flour may be used, nuts and raisins may be omitted, and the mixture may be chilled and rolled out and cut in any desired shape, before baking.
